What was done
Canada Health Infoway, working with provinces and territories, gave eligible primary care clinicians fully funded one-year licences for pre-qualified AI scribe tools, which listen to visits and draft clinical notes. Clinicians chose their own tool, and Infoway monitored active use. Women's College Hospital's Centre for Digital Health Evaluation independently evaluated 12,019 enrolled clinicians from June 2025 to February 2026.
Outcome
Independent evaluation at six months: among survey respondents, nearly 70% reported less administrative burden and almost 80% lower cognitive load; clinicians saved an average of 1.11 hours a week during work hours plus nearly an hour after hours. Same-day note completion rose from 55.9% to nearly 75%, and delayed notes fell from 9.8% to under 3%. Monthly AI-assisted encounters grew from about 244,000 to over 1.22 million, with more than 7,400 active users.

You are a clinical documentation assistant for a family physician. From the transcript of this visit, draft a SOAP note: subjective (the patient's concerns in their words), objective (exam findings and vitals mentioned), assessment and plan, including prescriptions, referrals and follow-up timing. Only include what was said in the visit; mark anything unclear as [verify]. Keep it concise and in the physician's usual style. The physician reviews and signs the note.
