United Way BC puts its first AI agent into production to keep 11,000 helpline records current

11,000+ resource records
85% annual validation requirement
6 weeks to production

What was done

United Way BC runs the province's 211 helpline, backed by a database of 11,000+ community resources, and must validate at least 85% of those records every year to stay accredited. With AI consultancy Sense & Motion it built an agent that reads each organization's website and pulls its current details for a human curator to check and approve. Curators run it day to day and United Way's IT team owns the infrastructure.

Outcome

The agent went from start to production in six weeks, according to Sense & Motion's newsletter, and United Way's senior IT director says the team is now using the experience to build more AI tools across the organization. No time-saved figures were published.

Evidence: Agency announcement (customer quote). Figures are as reported by the source and have not been independently audited by AgentsNorth.

Prompt Reconstructed by AgentsNorth

The source didn't publish its prompt. This is our reconstruction of a starting prompt for a similar workflow, not the company's actual prompt.

You maintain records for a community services helpline. Given this organization's current database record and the text of its website, extract the current name, address, phone, email, hours, services offered, eligibility and languages. For each field, show the old value, the website value, and the page it came from, and flag changes. If the website doesn't state a field, say 'not found' rather than guessing. A curator approves every update.
